I love this. It fits beautifully with a draft story I scribbled on the theme of Time Travel using domestic appliances - including a tumble-dryer. I've pasted the extract below and I hope you enjoy the pure mad coincidence of it.
Sir Adverse Camber looked quite grave. He wasn’t too worried by the nonsensical ramblings because after thirty years in the job he’d listened to weirder stuff from far saner people. Sadie paused for breath before continuing at a calmer pace.
“It was then, that Helen pretended to take things seriously. She dragged me out to the kitchen where she pulled open the front of the large tumble drier.”
“Come on Hel! What are you doing? I need a pee.”
“I need a trip!”
“Helen giggled and thrust her head into the round orifice - the entrance into the machine. It may have been the effects of too much drink, but it looked as if the hole was opening up to swallow the rest of her.
Her pendulous breasts followed Helen’s neck and shoulders into the depths of the metal casing. A slight wriggle took care of her pert bottom as the legs and feet dragged behind.
An invisible gust slammed the door closed. Somewhere outside lightening flashed. There was a gentle humming as if the engine had kicked into life and then she was gone!
I rushed to open the tumble drier and it was totally empty. Helen was nowhere to be seen. It must have been shock, but I don’t remember anything else. All I know is Helen never ever went out from the apartment.”
The professor drew the session to a close. He soothed his patient to relaxation before calling in the two orderlies who were to escort her back to the ward. He leaned forward in his chair and watched them depart.
The room had grown incredibly hot and oppressive giving every indication the heat-wave was continuing into the humid evening. The voice activated hidden tape recorder brooded in the silence.
Professor Camber tidied away his files and locked the drawers of the desk in his private office. The huge American fridge loomed against the wall. It was the only cool thing in the entire building. He walked across to it and pulled open the massive doors. A gust of cooling delight wafted over him. Sir Adverse Camber stepped inside the refrigerator and the entrance automatically sealed behind him. Machinery thrummed and an instant later he was at home in air conditioned luxury. Sadie Brown had unwittingly stumbled upon a secret community of time-travelling aliens. The professor intended to ensure she was not going to be released for a very long time.
